Finger prints and eye scans are now being collected, by force, in the largest biometric database in the world in India. Civil liberties groups say it violates privacy. Supporters claim the new system will make corruption more difficult and give better access to the welfare state. Opposition says this will only make an overbearing state and greater powers to abuse.
